Keyboard shortcuts
Tegment's default keyboard shortcuts, grouped by what they do, and how to remap them.
Tegment has keyboard shortcuts for the actions you reach for most. These are the defaults; remap any of them, or reset them all, under Settings → Keyboard shortcuts.
Most shortcuts belong to the app as a whole. The File editor group is the exception: those combinations only act while you are editing a file, and stay available to your shell everywhere else.

Cycling wraps around in the order you created the groups in.
File editor#

These work in the in-app editor and comment out whatever the file's language uses. They are worth remapping if your keyboard layout puts / behind Shift, as a Swedish one does: the shortcut is then physically Ctrl+Shift+7, which Tegment already uses for switching groups. Record whatever combination suits your layout and the editor listens for exactly that.

Every shortcut outside the file editor is also a command in quick search: type > and its name.
Elsewhere in the app#
A few keys belong to one place and aren't remappable:

Switching tabs, panes, and groups by number#
Three ranges are fixed rather than remappable:
- Ctrl+1 through Ctrl+9 switch to a tab by position.
- Alt+1 through Alt+9 focus a terminal pane by position.
- Ctrl+Shift+1 through Ctrl+Shift+9 switch to a terminal group by position.
Prefer it the other way around? The Keys for switching tabs and panes setting swaps them, so Alt switches tabs and Ctrl focuses panes.
Remapping#
Open Settings → Keyboard shortcuts, select a shortcut, and press the new combination. Tegment warns you if it clashes with another binding. Reset to Defaults restores every shortcut at once.
